Hartzine - Chronicle 1: Death And Vanilla - EP

Sweden is far from Big Apple, but it is clear that in these days when snow covers the sidewalks and where cold penetrates to the bone, the Scandinavian kingdom of musical activism is at full. Having the honor of inducting these few words and a chronic this first collaboration of Hartzine started with our friends in Panic Room, I have long hesitated between two groups, one in Malmo and one in Stockholm. It found that the prolixity of the motherland of ABBA, labels and Labrador Service, at a time when the concept of music news looks more and more like a bottomless pit. And it was not from the frustration of having been grilled priority in my writing, or by a resurgence of geographical exoticism, that my choice was the first of them, Death And Vanilla , but by the fact that their compatriots Museum Of Fine Arts have already made a name for the occasion of the release, January 10, the euphoric EP Days Ahead and a few concerts in Paris under the thumb of our friends 25 Years & Running .

First digital release (download here by ) label Brest Beko DSL, which Hartzine not think of the good (read ), and first-label output physical Besançon Hands In The Dark (order by there ) Death And Vanilla stretched on four tracks of this self-titled EP a delicate melancholy melodies beautifully curled around simple, repetitive and definitely obsessive. The ethereal voice Marleen Nilsson dress a fluffy cloud, romantic and refined instrumentation voluble Anders Hansson, who, like a Johnny Jewel (Chromatics) while successful, never mistaken in adequacy of arrangements keyboards / bass / guitar. Such a rereading of dreamlike pop of Cocteau Twins to broadcast, and this according to an ABC krautrock understood as the combination of strict discipline and absolute freedom, Ghosts In The Machine inoculated purest addiction aids, at the first suspicion listen, but infinitely poisonous over time. And another summit same formula, the delectable Run Rabbit Run sounds like an ode to the hopeless romantic sentimentalism evanescent. If Godspeed and The Color Of Space are less obvious in their emotional grip, they are nonetheless fascinating in their apprehension of sound weightless universe where the change outweighs the transition, where notions of couplets and refrains themselves to lose their meaning.

Lately, every morning, the suffocating smallness of a metro-like Livestock dying has no hold on me. Look no further, now you know why.
