Smorgasbord! Nicolas

Ultimate movie directed by Jerry Lewis in 1983 * Smorgasbord (also known as the Craking Up and you crazy, Jerry! in France), defies all critical. His humor, totally devastating, says a genius, though erratic, but still shows some nice sparks. The scenario is limited to a single argument, a pretext for a series gags uninterrupted. Jerry, eternal blundering, triggers disaster wherever he goes. He tries to commit suicide, which triggers other disasters. It therefore makes a visit to a shrink, who will attempt to diagnose his "evil".

As Swedish buffet which gave its name to the film, there here to eat and drink. Occasionally glancing toward the Peter Sellers Pink Panther, the humor of Jerry Lewis is a clever mix of faces, situations, sounds and cartoon. Some gags are excellent, others fall completely flat. Anachronistic in 1983 (year of the Return of the Jedi and Flashdance), Lewis plans film In the same way as in the 60s, period of its development as a filmmaker. As if the old forms were still recipe, which was not the case at the time, the film has been underutilized and Lewis no longer in fashion. Yet Smorgasbord is funny, especially during the opening sequence where the character goes on and slip into a room entirely plastic.

Awarded at the last Academy Awards by the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, Jerry Lewis is now more recognized nationally for his charitable work as for his career Artist. At 83, he remains more popular in France. Guests at the last Cannes Film Festival to announce the release next year a movie called Max Rose, to be directed by Harry Ingle, it has not failed to make the clown, mime forcefully compelling, provocative commentary and disjointed, and a makeshift gag of emptying a bottle full of water on the carpet in the middle of a palace press conference!

the actor playing an old man who overcomes the loss of his wife with the love of his daughter, while revisiting the great moments of his life.

Jerry Lewis hopes the film will be retained in the next Cannes selection. Our dream would be particularly cinematic one day see his film lost The Day The Clown Cried , made in 1972, the tragic story of a clown caught by the Nazis.

* Proposed in May 2009 at the French Cinematheque .
