First I will present my new city, Porto Alegre.
To start a small introduction wikipedia:
"Porto Alegre is the capital State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. This is the tenth city
largest population of Brazil. Its population was 1,420,667 inhabitants in the 2007 census. " To help you locate here is the map of wikipedia. In avoiding a large topo history that State is a bit like Britain whose members want independence or more precisely as Cork in Ireland. Indeed, the national holiday of that State is a defeat against the Brazilian government. They actually celebrate the fact of having been the most resistant. It is the only Brazilian state that has a hymn, whose inhabitants know how to sing. For those who want, you can find the video on youtube here . Basically it's a bit like the Scottish anthem, saying they may be lost but one day they will wake up or rather they continue to show their values.

To give you a better idea here are some celebrities here:
Soccer Ronaldinho, Dunga, Michel Bastos, Luiz Felipe Scolari, Taffarel
Top Models: Gisele Bundchen, Alessandra Ambrosio, Fernanda Lima
Gymnastic: Daiana Dos Santos
So back to the city with a city map and my location in a red rectangle.
Many trees and parks are present in the city. It does not include many historical monuments, is primarily a college town.
I live in the district of Praia de Belas, which is the administrative center of state government with large buildings like the one in front of my house:
Above is the Centre with historic monuments and government. A 10 minute walk is the Cidade Baixa district is the bar district. I will return at greater length in the next few days and details on the characteristics of this city.
In the meantime I'll make a list of what I like and likes a lot less here yet.
Like:
- food (unless you are vegetarian)
- Climate
- The passion for football
- This weekend the streets are quiet
I dislike:
- roads (bumpy)
- pedestrian crossings (we need to know to run across a road)
- Cars that will not stop honking
- Fear room (always be careful)
- Lack of entertainment in bars
